| In the September, John and I went to Waverly, Kansas and picked up two of the rescues being cared for at Winding Roads Equine Rescue mentioned on your website. Shortly after arriving at Winding Roads, Apple blessed her rescuers with Macintosh, born in April so of course I had to take both of them. I've been slowly introducing them to my other horses and yesterday was the first time I opened up the gates and hoped for the best. Nothing critical yet and the little guy is hanging with my 16.3 Walker and a paint mare that we sometimes have less than favorable names for. The adopted horses were both pretty feral when we picked them up so we're going to have to work slowly with them.
Update: April 2010:
They are both doing very well. We've started the more intense training and Macintosh is doing pretty well. Mom, (Apple) because she is five and was feral will take a bit longer. They both were when we picked them up and it just requires patience. Their trust in people just wasn't there which is understandable considering the farm they originally came from before they were rescued by Winding Road Equine Rescue.
